The grand annual festival at Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple celebrating the divine wedding of Goddess Meenakshi to Lord Sundareswarar (Shiva). One of the largest temple festivals in India attracting millions.

Significance

Commemorates the celestial wedding of Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareswarar. Also celebrates Lord Vishnu (as Alagar) attending his sister Meenakshi's wedding - a beautiful display of Shaiva-Vaishnava harmony.
