1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Discover Tamil ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. The Service is provided by SECURIGHT PTY LTD (Australia). If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility & Age Requirement

You must be at least 17 years old to use Discover Tamil.

By creating an account or using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are 17 years of age or older. If we discover that an account belongs to a person under 17, we will terminate the account and delete the associated data.

Discover Tamil is released worldwide except the United States and Canada.

3. Description of Service

Discover Tamil is an educational platform designed to help users learn the Tamil language and culture through interactive games, AI-powered tutoring, podcasts, video lessons, and cultural content. The Service is provided free of charge.

4. Free Service

Discover Tamil is provided free of charge. There are no paid subscriptions, in-app purchases, or premium tiers. We reserve the right to introduce paid features or change this model in the future, in which case we will give clear notice and continue to honour any free access already granted to existing users where reasonably possible.

5. Account & Authentication

The Service uses Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google for account creation and authentication. We do not offer email-and-password sign-in. You are responsible for keeping your Apple ID or Google account secure and for any activity that occurs under your account. You may request account deletion from within the app where available, or by contacting us. Verified deletion requests are processed within 30 days, subject to limited records we must retain for legal, security, or dispute purposes.

6. AI-Assisted Content

A significant portion of the educational content in Discover Tamil — including stories, explanations, translations, quiz questions, vocabulary examples, infographics, and audio narration — was produced with the assistance of generative AI tools and curated by us before publication. The app does not run a live AI chatbot.

What AI-assisted content is for, and what it is not for.

AI-assisted content in Discover Tamil is provided for general language learning and cultural exploration only. It is intended to help you practise, explore, and stay curious about the Tamil language and culture.

AI-assisted content is not, and must not be relied on as:

Professional translation (legal, medical, immigration, academic, or business)
Religious, spiritual, or astrological guidance for real-life decisions
Medical, legal, financial, educational, or psychological advice
A substitute for a qualified human teacher, translator, doctor, lawyer, advisor, or priest
Authoritative information about real people, places, events, businesses, or organisations
Academic citation or evidence in coursework, dissertations, or formal exams

If a piece of AI-assisted content is important to a real-world decision you are about to make, please verify it with a qualified human professional before acting on it. We do not accept responsibility for decisions taken in reliance on AI-assisted content.

Your acknowledgement.

You acknowledge that AI-assisted content may contain factual errors, translation inaccuracies, cultural misrepresentations, or outdated information; and you agree that you will not use the Service as the sole basis for any decision with legal, medical, financial, religious, immigration, academic, or commercial consequences.

Public-domain Tamil literature. Tamil classical literature in the public domain (such as Thirukkural, Sangam poetry, and traditional proverbs) is presented in its original form; only our translations, audio, and curated arrangement of these works are AI-assisted.

6a. Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

The Service, including all content (whether AI-generated or human-curated), audio, translations, and features, is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We disclaim all warranties including, without limitation, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, completeness, error-free or uninterrupted operation, security, and freedom from viruses or other harmful components.

We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, that any defects will be corrected, or that AI-generated content is accurate, complete, or appropriate for any particular purpose.

Nothing in this section excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) or other applicable mandatory law.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

Discover Tamil, SECURIGHT PTY LTD, and its directors, employees, and affiliates shall NOT be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
We are NOT liable for any errors, mistakes, or inaccuracies in content, including AI-generated content.
We are NOT liable for any learning outcomes, academic performance, or professional results based on use of the Service.
We are NOT liable for any decisions made based on information provided by the Service.
Because the Service is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability to you shall not exceed AUD $100, except where liability cannot be excluded under applicable law (including the Australian Consumer Law).

8. Responsible AI Use

We are committed to responsible AI practices:

AI systems are designed to be helpful, harmless, and honest
We do not use AI to deceive or manipulate users
AI-generated content is identified to users where practical
We actively work to reduce bias in our AI systems
We minimise account identifiers before prompts are sent to third-party AI providers
Your prompts and submissions are not used to train third-party AI models

9. User Responsibilities & Acceptable Use

You agree to:

Use the Service only for lawful purposes
Provide accurate information when creating an account
Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or otherwise exploit the Service
Not attempt to bypass rate limits, abuse free AI quotas, or extract bulk content
Not use the Service to harass, abuse, defame, or harm others
Not submit unlawful, infringing, defamatory, sexually explicit, or hateful content through any input field, including AI chat or pronunciation features
Not impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation
Report any errors, security issues, or abuse you discover

9a. User-Generated Content & Reporting Objectionable Content

The Service allows you to submit content through certain features — for example, AI chat prompts, voice recordings for pronunciation practice, and writing-practice submissions. You retain ownership of the content you submit, but you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, process, and analyse that content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.

You are responsible for the content you submit. You must not submit content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, sexually explicit, hateful, harassing, threatening, fraudulent, or that exploits or endangers any person.

How to report objectionable content or abusive users: Email vanakkam@discovertamil.com with the subject line “Content Report”. Include a description of the content or behaviour, where you encountered it, and any relevant screenshots. We aim to acknowledge reports within 24 hours and to act on substantiated reports within 48 hours of acknowledgement.

We reserve the right to remove any content and to suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms, with or without notice. Users who repeatedly violate these Terms, including those whose content is repeatedly reported and substantiated, will have their accounts terminated.

10. Intellectual Property

All content, features, software, and functionality of Discover Tamil are owned by SECURIGHT PTY LTD and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Tamil classical literature in the public domain (such as Thirukkural, Sangam poetry, and traditional proverbs) remains in the public domain; our presentation, translations, audio, and curated arrangement of these works are ours. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works from the Service without our written permission, except for personal, non-commercial use of your own learning progress.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the Service at any time, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. You may terminate your account at any time by requesting deletion from within the app where available, or by contacting us.

12. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification, and we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of Australia. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Victoria, Australia. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13a. General

Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
No waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
Entire agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
Assignment: We may assign or transfer these Terms and our rights and obligations under them, in whole or in part, without notice or consent, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent.
Force majeure: We are not liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, civil unrest, government action, labour disputes, power or network outages, third-party service failures, or pandemic.
