Chitra Pournami is the full moon day of Chithirai month, considered highly auspicious. Special worship is offered to Chitragupta, the divine accountant who records human deeds.

Significance

Chitragupta, who maintains the record of good and bad deeds, is worshipped on this day. Taking a holy bath and performing charity is believed to wash away sins.
