Skanda Sashti is a six-day festival celebrating Lord Murugan's victory over the demon Soorapadman. The dramatic Soorasamharam event is the highlight, especially at Thiruchendur.
Significance
Commemorates Lord Murugan's battle and victory over Soorapadman using the divine Vel (spear) given by Goddess Parvati. Represents triumph of good over evil.
