Tamil New Year (Puthandu/Chithirai Vishu) is celebrated on the first day of Chithirai month. It marks the beginning of the Tamil calendar year with prayers, family gatherings, and feasting.

Significance

Marks the beginning of a new year in the Tamil calendar. Panchangam Vaachippu (reading of almanac) predicts the year ahead. Considered auspicious for new beginnings.
