Story behind this kural

In a small village nestled beside a whispering river, lived two brothers, Arun and Bala. Arun toiled tirelessly, farming the dry earth, content with the simple yield. Bala, however, craved the finer things. He saw the rich merchant’s silks and the King’s feasts and grew discontent. One day, Bala abandoned his work. He began to beg, feigning illness and misfortune. He received food, coin, and pity. At first, it seemed easy. But with each handout, a subtle shift occurred. His eyes lost their sparkle, his shoulders slumped, and a shadow of shame clung to him. He found himself avoiding Arun’s gaze. Arun, though his days were hard, found joy in the setting sun and the taste of his simple meal. He looked at his brother, now draped in borrowed finery, and saw a hollowness that no wealth could fill. The merchant’s silks seemed to mock him. The King’s feast felt like a cruel joke. Bala, despite his easy gains, was deeply unwell.
