Explanation

The goddess of wealth (திரு - Lakshmi) actively seeks out virtuous, non-covetous people. She recognizes and rewards their merit. Wealth comes naturally to those of good character.

Story behind this kural

In a small village nestled beside a whispering river, lived two farmers, Arun and Bala. Arun toiled relentlessly, always eyeing his neighbor’s richer harvest, his heart filled with a longing for what he didn't have. He plotted to acquire more land, constantly comparing himself to others. Bala, however, was content. He cultivated his land with care, sharing his bounty with those in need. He found joy in the simple act of growing food and treated everyone with kindness. He never looked at what others possessed. One season, the river flooded, destroying Arun's crops. He was left with nothing. Bala, whose fields were higher, lost very little. Neighbors helped him, and soon, his harvest was plentiful. Merchants, witnessing his generosity and hard work, flocked to him, offering the best prices. Arun, envious once more, saw Bala's wealth flourish, a testament to his good heart.
