True life requires both avoiding blame and earning fame. A blameless but fameless life is mere existence.

Story behind this kural

In a small village nestled beside a whispering river, lived two potters, Arun and Bala. Arun crafted beautiful, sturdy pots, admired for their flawless form. He lived a quiet life, his days filled with honest labor. The villagers bought his pots, but Arun never sought more than a simple existence. Bala, however, dreamt of renown. He, too, made pots, but his were often flawed, rushed in his eagerness to impress. Yet, he tirelessly sought to display his work at the King's market, constantly promoting his name. Some whispered of his methods, but Bala ignored them. One day, a great storm raged, flooding the village. Arun's strong pots helped many villagers store their dwindling water supply. But the storm exposed the weakness of Bala's pots, and the rumors about his character, which were also revealed as hollow. Arun was celebrated for his integrity, and Bala, despite his efforts, was forgotten as soon as the waters receded.
