True தூய்மை (purity) is not external but internal - freedom from அவா (desire). This inner purity is achieved through வாய்மை (truthfulness). Being honest with oneself and others leads to desirelessness.

Story behind this kural
In a village nestled beside a whispering forest lived a potter named Kumar. He crafted beautiful pots, and the villagers admired his skill. One day, a wealthy merchant offered Kumar a vast sum for a single, perfect pot, unlike any he had made before. Kumar, consumed by the desire for wealth, accepted the challenge. He labored day and night, each attempt deemed flawed. His hands trembled, his mind raced with visions of riches. He became irritable, snapping at his wife and neglecting his children. Finally, after weeks of toil, he created a pot. It was exquisite, flawless. The merchant arrived, his eyes gleaming. But as he reached for the pot, Kumar saw his own reflection in its polished surface: a haggard, unhappy man. He realized the price of his ambition. With a sigh, he offered the pot to the merchant, but declared he would not sell it. Kumar returned to his old ways, finding contentment in his simple life, his heart lighter than before.
