English translation
Trusting without testing, and doubting after having trusted - both bring endless troubles.
Listen
Explanation
Two mistakes are equally harmful: blind trust without investigation, and constant suspicion of proven people. The first invites betrayal; the second destroys loyalty. Balance is essential in trust relationships.

Story behind this kural
In a village nestled beside a whispering river, lived a merchant named Arun. He sought a new assistant and quickly hired Kumar, charmed by the young man's eagerness. Arun, trusting implicitly, gave Kumar the keys to the storehouse without a second thought. Soon, goods began disappearing, and Arun was left with empty shelves and a heavy heart. Across the village, another merchant, Ravi, also sought an assistant. He hired Bala, a skilled craftsman. Ravi, however, constantly suspected Bala, scrutinizing his every move. He’d check the inventory multiple times a day, and accused Bala of dishonesty at the slightest mistake. Bala, disheartened by the lack of trust, soon left to find work elsewhere. Both merchants suffered. Arun, betrayed by his blind faith, lost his livelihood. Ravi, consumed by suspicion, drove away his only help. The villagers whispered, observing that both extremes brought nothing but ruin.
