கடிந்த கடிந்தொரார் செய்தார்க்கு
அவைதாம் முடிந்தாலும் பீழை தரும்
Kaṭinta kaṭintorār ceytārkku
Avaitām muṭintālum pīḻai tarum
English translation
Even if forbidden deeds done by one who disregards prohibitions succeed, they will bring suffering.

Even successful sin brings பீழை (suffering). When one ignores ethical boundaries (கடிந்த) and commits forbidden acts, even apparent success leads to eventual torment.

Story behind this kural
In the village of Eldoria, lived a merchant named Silas. He yearned for riches, and a hidden treasure was rumored to lie beneath the sacred Willow tree. He lost everything, including the gold, which the raging fire consumed. Alone and destitute, Silas wandered the village, realizing his ill-gotten gains had brought him only isolation and sorrow. The villagers watched him, their pity a silent acknowledgment of the price he had paid.
