எல்லார்க்கும் எல்லாம் நல்குரவு எஞ்ஞான்றும்
நல்லாரான் நாடி அகப்படும்
Ellārkkum ellām nalkuravu eññāṉdrum
Nallārāṉ nāṭi akappaṭum
English translation
A fort that provides everything to all, lacking nothing at any time, will be defended by the good.

When a fortress has abundant resources to sustain all its inhabitants without shortage, righteous people will willingly come forward to protect it with dedication.

Story behind this kural
The village of Eldoria was known throughout the land for its prosperity. Its granaries overflowed, the well provided sweet water, and the healers were skilled and generous. Every villager had enough to eat, a warm home, and access to knowledge. One day, a neighboring kingdom, envious of Eldoria's wealth, sent their army to conquer it. The soldiers marched towards the village, expecting an easy victory. But as they neared the walls, they found the gates firmly shut. Within, Eldoria’s citizens, young and old, stood shoulder to shoulder, ready to defend their home. The enemy soldiers, surprised by the villagers’ unexpected courage, tried to breach the walls. Yet, they found every entrance guarded and every defense well-manned. The villagers fought not just for themselves, but for the shared bounty and well-being they enjoyed. They fought with a unified spirit, protecting the place that provided for them all. The attacking army, facing such fierce resistance, eventually retreated, leaving Eldoria untouched.
