புணர்ச்சி பழகுதல் வேண்டா
உணர்ச்சிதான் நட்பாங் கிழமை தரும்
Puṇarcci paḻakutal vēṇṭā
Uṇarccitāṉ naṭpāṅ kiḻamai tarum
English translation
For true friendship, physical proximity and long acquaintance are not necessary; understanding of hearts creates the bond.

Explanation
Deep friendship does not require புணர்ச்சி (physical meeting) or பழகுதல் (long familiarity). Mental understanding (உணர்ச்சி) alone creates the intimate bond (கிழமை) of true friendship.

Arun, though grateful for the assistance from Maya, was disappointed that Bala was unavailable.
