கரவார் கனைஇருந்து கோடி யவர்
Iravār irappārkoṉ ṟīvar
Karavār kaṉaiiruntu kōṭi yavar
English translation
Farmers never beg, but give to beggars; they live with the plough, not hoarding wealth selfishly.

Story behind this kural
In the village of Eldoria, lived two farmers, Thomas and Silas. Thomas toiled tirelessly, his fields overflowing with golden grain. Yet, he kept a small portion for himself, storing the rest in large, locked chests. Silas, however, worked with equal diligence but shared his harvest generously with any who asked. He kept little for himself, believing the earth's bounty was meant for all. One harsh winter, a severe famine struck Eldoria. Thomas, despite his wealth, found his locked granaries useless. The villagers, desperate and cold, turned to him, but his doors remained closed. Meanwhile, Silas, though with meager supplies, opened his home, sharing his last handfuls of grain. He welcomed all, his heart filled with warmth. When spring arrived, Thomas’s fields lay barren, while Silas’s, though smaller, were already sprouting new life. The villagers, having survived thanks to Silas, helped him sow and soon, his land flourished.
