நல்லினது ஊங்கு நன்று
கயவரின் தீய கெடுதல் இனிது
Nalliṉatu ūṅku naṉṟu
Kayavariṉ tīya keṭutal iṉitu
English translation
The prosperity of the good is indeed good; the destruction of the evil base is pleasant.
Listen
Explanation
When good people thrive, society benefits. When evil people are destroyed, that too is a blessing. Both outcomes serve justice.

Story behind this kural
In the village of Eldoria, lived two merchants: Silas and Thorne. Silas, known for his honesty, traded fairly, sharing his profits with those in need. His business flourished, and the villagers prospered alongside him. Thorne, however, hoarded wealth. He cheated customers, exploited workers, and reveled in the misfortune of others. One year, a terrible drought struck. Silas, using his accumulated wealth, organized well-digging and food distribution, saving many lives. Thorne, seeing an opportunity, raised prices, further impoverishing the villagers. But soon after, a fire, sparked by his carelessness, consumed his warehouses, leaving him with nothing. The villagers, though saddened by the devastation, found solace in the continued well-being of Silas and the community he supported. They knew that sometimes, the downfall of the wicked brought a strange kind of peace.
