பிறன்பொருளாள் பெட்டொழுகும் பேதைமை
ஞாலத்து அறம்பொருள் கண்டார்கண் இல்
Piṟaṉporuḷāḷ peṭṭoḻukum pētaimai
Ñālattu aṟamporuḷ kaṇṭārkaṇ il
English translation
The folly of desiring another's wife does not exist in those who have understood the meaning of virtue in this world.

Explanation
Those who truly understand அறம் (virtue) and its purpose would never commit this folly. பேதைமை (foolishness) of coveting another's spouse simply does not exist (இல்) in the wise. True wisdom precludes such destructive desire.

பிறன் மனைவியை விரும்புவது முட்டாள்தனம். அறம் என்றால் என்னவென்று அறிந்தவர்கள் இப்படிப்பட்ட தவறான ஆசையை மனதில் கொள்ள மாட்டார்கள். பிறனில் விழையாமை என்னும் அதிகாரத்தின்படி, இது ஒழுக்கக்கேடான செயல். நல்லறிவுள்ளவர்களிடம் இத்தகைய பேதைமை இருக்காது.

Story behind this kural
In a small village nestled beside a whispering forest, lived two farmers, Arun and Bala. Arun, known for his kindness, had a beautiful wife, Priya, and a bountiful harvest. Bala, however, was often envious. He saw Priya's laughter and Arun's contented smile, and his heart filled with a strange unrest. One day, Bala, consumed by his desire, approached Priya while Arun was away. He spoke of his admiration, of a life they could share. Priya, her eyes widening in surprise, simply turned and walked away. Later, Arun returned, noticing the unusual silence in his home. Priya, her usual cheer dimmed, explained Bala's unwelcome words. Arun, without anger, sought out Bala. He found him staring at his own meager field, now seeming barren in comparison. Arun offered Bala help with his harvest, sharing his knowledge and tools. Bala, ashamed, accepted. Soon, Bala's field began to flourish.
