பொள்ளென ஆங்கே புறம்வேரார்
காலம்பார்த்து உள்வேர்ப்பர் ஒள்ளி யவர்

English translation
The wise do not show immediate outward anger; they wait for the right time, burning inwardly.

Story behind this kural
In a small village nestled beside a whispering river, lived two farmers, Arun and Bala. Arun owned the richest fields, envied by many, including Bala, who was often consumed by bitterness. One harvest season, Bala, driven by spite, secretly diverted Arun's irrigation, causing his crops to wither. Arun discovered the sabotage, but instead of immediate confrontation, he remained silent. He observed Bala’s actions, the smug satisfaction etched on his face. Days turned into weeks as Arun quietly repaired the damage, replanting his crops. He continued to be friendly towards Bala, never betraying his inner turmoil. As the next harvest neared, Arun’s fields flourished, while Bala’s, due to his own neglect, were barren. When the village elder announced the harvest festival, Arun offered Bala his surplus grain, enough to feed his family through the winter. Bala, ashamed and humbled, finally understood the true meaning of strength.
