Explanation
Hasty trust in unknown persons (பிறன்) without proper investigation (தேரான்) leads to lasting troubles that affect not just oneself but one's entire family line (வழிமுறை). Due diligence protects generations.

Story behind this kural
In a village nestled beside a whispering forest, lived a wealthy farmer named Arul. One day, a stranger arrived, claiming to be a master craftsman seeking work. He spun tales of grand projects and promised incredible returns on investment. Arul, charmed by the stranger's silver tongue and grand promises, offered him a large sum to build a granary. Ignoring the warnings of his cautious neighbors, Arul readily agreed. The craftsman took the money and began, but soon, work slowed, and excuses flowed. Weeks turned into months. The granary remained unfinished, and the craftsman vanished, taking Arul's wealth with him. Arul’s family faced hardship. The unfinished granary could not store the harvest, and they struggled to survive the winter. The village whispered of Arul's folly. Years later, Arul's children and grandchildren still bore the scars of the craftsman’s deceit, a constant reminder of the day their family's fortunes changed.
