காக்கை கரவா கரைந்துண்ணும்
ஆக்கமும் அன்னநீ ரார்க்கே உள
Kākkai karavā karaintuṇṇum
Ākkamum aṉṉanī rārkkē uḷa
English translation
The crow does not hide its food but calls others to share; prosperity belongs only to those of such nature.

Explanation
A beautiful example from nature: crows call their flock before eating. They share, they do not hoard. Prosperity (ஆக்கம்) comes to those who share like the crow (காக்கை). Sharing multiplies abundance.

காக்கை உணவை மறைக்காமல் கூவி அழைத்து உண்ணும். சுற்றத்தாரை அரவணைத்து பகிர்ந்து வாழும் இயல்புடையவர்க்கே செல்வம் பெருகும். இது சுற்றந்தழால் அதிகாரத்தின் கருத்து. பிறருக்கு கொடுத்து உதவுவதால் நன்மை உண்டாகும்.

Story behind this kural
In a small village nestled beside a lush forest, lived two farmers, Arun and Bala. Arun owned a vast field, yielding a bountiful harvest each year. He built high walls around his land and stored his grain in locked granaries, eating alone. Bala, however, had a smaller plot. When his harvest came, he invited all the villagers to share, organizing feasts and celebrations, even when his own reserves were small. Years passed. Arun’s granaries remained full, yet his life was lonely. He ate alone, and no one offered him help when his crops failed one year. Bala, though his stores sometimes dwindled, always had the support of the village. When drought struck, the villagers shared their remaining water and food with him, ensuring his survival. Arun, seeing Bala’s flourishing life and the constant support he received, finally understood something he had missed all along.
