பழுதெண்ணும் மந்திரியின் பக்கத்துள்
தெவ்வோர் எழுபது கோடி உறும்

English translation
Having a treacherous minister by one's side is equivalent to having seventy crore enemies.

Story behind this kural
King Alaric ruled a prosperous kingdom, admired for its wealth. Yet, he trusted a minister, Silas, whose smile hid a viper's heart. Silas secretly coveted the throne. He whispered poison into the king's ear, sowing distrust among loyal advisors and weakening the kingdom's defenses. When a neighboring kingdom declared war, Alaric, confident in his resources, prepared for battle. Silas, however, sabotaged the war effort, diverting funds and spreading false intelligence. The king’s army, ill-equipped and misled, suffered a devastating defeat. The kingdom, once vibrant, fell into chaos. Alaric, betrayed and defeated, finally understood. Silas, not the external enemy, had been the true threat. The king's enemies were many, but Silas was the one who brought them in.
