Story behind this kural

The village elder, Thulasi, was known for his wise pronouncements. Once, the King summoned him, troubled by a dispute between two merchants. One claimed the other sold him a faulty cart. Thulasi entered the bustling court. He observed the nervous merchants, the bored guards, and the impatient King. First, he questioned the cart-seller, listening intently, noting his evasiveness. Then, he turned to the buyer, whose honest frustration was clear. Thulasi asked the buyer, "When the cart broke, did you immediately inform the seller?" The buyer admitted he hadn't, hoping to fix it himself. Thulasi turned to the King. "Your Majesty, the cart's fault is unclear. The buyer hesitated, and the seller, though perhaps careless, didn't receive immediate notice. Justice needs both truth and timely action." The King, understanding the wisdom, dismissed the case, advising the merchants to settle privately. Later, the King praised Thulasi's balanced judgment, which had brought clarity to a muddled situation.
