From enmity comes what was not, and from harmony comes stability; seeing this, understand.
Listen
Explanation
Enmity (இகலான்) creates problems that didn't exist (இல்லது உண்டாம்). Harmony (நிகலான்) brings stable existence (நின்று நிலை). Observe this truth and understand the choice: enmity creates; harmony stabilizes.

Story behind this kural
In a small village nestled beside a whispering river, lived two farmers, Arun and Bala. Arun, consumed by envy of Bala’s thriving crops, constantly sowed discord. He spread rumors, sabotaged Bala's irrigation, and even tried to poison his well. Soon, Arun’s own fields suffered. The villagers, divided by his actions, stopped trading with him. His harvest dwindled, and his house fell into disrepair. Meanwhile, Bala, despite the hardship, responded with kindness. He shared his surplus, offered Arun help, and spoke of unity. Gradually, the villagers saw the contrast. They began to assist Bala, and his farm prospered even more. Arun, witnessing this, finally understood. He swallowed his pride, apologized, and helped rebuild his neighbor's damaged well. As their fields thrived side-by-side, the village found peace and plenty.
