இமையாரின் வாழினும் பாடிலரே
இல்லாள் அமையார்தோள் அஞ்சு பவர்
Imaiyāriṉ vāḻiṉum pāṭilarē
Illāḷ amaiyārtōḷ añcu pavar
English translation
Even if they live like the immortals, those who fear their wife's rounded shoulders have no dignity.

Explanation
Even divine prosperity (இமையாரின் வாழினும் - living like devas) cannot grant dignity to a man who trembles before his wife's displeasure. Such men are without honor.

Story behind this kural

As the rains finally returned, Bala's fields flourished, while Arun's remained barren, weighed down by his choices.
