பாரத ஜனனி திவ்ய ஜனனி பார் முழுதும் புகழ் பரவி சீர் கொண்ட தாய் நீயே சேய்களுக்கு அருள் தருவாய் நின் மடியில் வளர்ந்தோம் நாங்கள் நின் அருளால் வாழ்கின்றோம் உன் அழைப்புக்கு ஓடி வருவோம் உயிர் தருவோம் உனக்காக கோடி மக்கள் ஒரு தாய் என்று குரல் கொடுத்து அழைக்கின்றோம் நாடி வந்து அருள் புரிவாய் நல்ல தாயே எமக்காய் வேற்றுமை இல்லை என்போம் வேதமும் குரானும் ஒன்றே ஆற்றலும் அறிவும் தருவாய் அன்னை பாரத ஜனனி இந்து முஸ்லிம் சிக்கர் கிறிஸ்துவர் எல்லோரும் உன் மக்கள் சிந்தனையில் ஒன்றாய் நிற்போம் சிறப்பான பாரதமே

English Translation
O Mother of Bharat, Divine Mother Your glory has spread across the world You are the mother of excellence Grant your grace to your children We grew up in your lap We live by your grace We will run to your call We will give our lives for you Crores of people call out as one With one voice we call you Mother Come seeking us and grant your grace Good mother, for our sake We say there is no difference The Vedas and the Quran are one Grant us strength and wisdom O Mother, Bharata Janani Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian All are your children We shall stand as one in thought O splendid Bharat
Historical Context
This poem, written around 1910-1914, showcases Bharathiyar's progressive vision of a united India transcending religious divisions. Remarkably ahead of his time, he proclaimed "Vedamum Kuraanum Ondrey" (Vedas and Quran are one) - a revolutionary statement of religious harmony. The poem personifies India as "Janani" (Mother/Progenitrix in Sanskrit), emphasizing the maternal bond that unites all Indians regardless of faith.
