எதிர்காலம் நமதே என்று ஏங்கி நில்லாதே தோழா புதிய யுகம் வருகிறது பொன்னான நாளை வரும் விடியும் விடியும் என்று விழித்திருந்தோம் இத்தனை நாள் கடிது விடியும் இன்னும் கொஞ்சம் காத்திரு பொறுமையாய் நாளை என்ன நடக்கும் என்று நம்பிக்கை கொண்டிரு தாளாத துன்பம் போகும் தரணி முழுதும் நன்மை வரும் சுதந்திரம் வரும் நாளை சூரியன் போல் ஒளிரும் இதயங்கள் மகிழும் நாளை இணைந்து வாழும் உலகம் எதிர்காலத்தை படைப்பது இன்றைய நம் செயலே புதிய உலகை உருவாக்க புறப்படு தோழா நீயும்

English Translation
Saying the future is ours Do not stand yearning, O friend A new era is coming A golden tomorrow will come Saying it will dawn, it will dawn We stayed awake all these days It will dawn soon, just a little more Wait with patience Wondering what tomorrow will bring Keep faith Unbearable suffering will go Goodness will come to the entire world Freedom will come tomorrow It will shine like the sun Hearts will rejoice tomorrow A world that lives united Creating the future Is today's action of ours To create a new world Set out too, O friend
Historical Context
This inspiring poem, written around 1910-1918, encapsulates Bharathiyar's unwavering hope for India's future. During the darkest days of colonial rule, he maintained faith that "பொன்னான நாளை வரும்" (a golden tomorrow will come).
