புதிய வானம் புதிய பூமி புதிய நீரும் புதிய காற்று புதிய உள்ளம் புதிய எண்ணம் புதிய வாழ்வு வேண்டும் எமக்கே பழைய கோழை மனத்தை விட்டு பகையும் பொய்யும் அழித்து விட்டு கழனி போல நெஞ்சம் திறந்து கருணை மாரி பொழிந்திடுவோம் புதிய ஞானச் சுடர் கொளுத்தி புவியில் இருளை அகற்றிடுவோம் புதிய சக்தி உடலில் பாய புரட்சி வந்தே மலர்ந்திடுமே விடியல் வருமே தோழா என்று விழிகள் காணும் புது ஒளியே கடிது வருமே விடுதலை என்று காத்திருக்கும் புது வாழ்வே

English Translation
New sky, new earth New water and new air New heart, new thought We need a new life for ourselves Leaving behind the old cowardly mind Destroying enmity and falsehood Opening the heart like a fertile field Let us shower the rain of compassion Lighting the lamp of new wisdom Let us remove darkness from the earth As new energy flows through the body Revolution will come and blossom forth Saying that dawn will come, O friend The eyes see new light Saying freedom will come swiftly This is the new life that awaits

Written during the period of intense nationalist awakening (1908-1912), this poem captures Bharathiyar's vision of complete transformation - not just political freedom, but a renewal of the human spirit. The poem reflects his belief that true independence requires inner transformation first. The imagery of "pudhiya" (new) repeated throughout creates a powerful mantra of change.
