யாமறிந்த மொழிகளிலே தமிழ்மொழி போல் இனிதாவது எங்கும் காணோம் பாமரருக்கும் பண்டிதர்க்கும் பயன்படும் பாங்கு அறிந்தோம் யாமும் தேமதுரத் தமிழோசை உலகமெலாம் பரவும் வகை செய்தல் வேண்டும் நாம் அதனைச் செய்யாமல் வேறு யார் செய்வார் நமது உயிரின் உறவான மொழி தமிழுக்கு அமுதென்று பேர் - அந்தத் தமிழ் இன்பத் தமிழ் எங்கள் உயிருக்கு நேர் தமிழுக்கு நிலவென்று பேர் - இன்பத் தமிழ் எங்கள் சமுகத்தின் விழிகளுக்கு நேர் என்றும் இனிக்கும் தமிழே - செந் தமிழே நீ என் உயிரே ஒன்றும் நினக்கு நிகரில்லை - இந்த உலகில் உனக்கு நிகர் காணேன் செந்தமிழ் நாடெனும் போதினிலே - இன்பத் தேன் வந்து பாயுது காதினிலே முந்துற முன்னம் வளர்ந்த மொழி - இது மூவாத என்றும் இளமையுடைத்து

English Translation
Among all the languages we know, like Tamil We find none as sweet anywhere That it serves both the common folk and scholars alike This quality we have understood well The sweet Tamil sound must spread Throughout the entire world, this we must do If we don't do this, who else will? This language is the kin of our very life Tamil has the name "Nectar" - that Tamil, joyful Tamil, equals our very life Tamil has the name "Moonlight" - joyful Tamil equals the eyes of our community Tamil that is sweet forever - O pure Tamil, you are my very life Nothing equals you - in this World I find nothing that compares to you When we speak of the Tamil land - sweet Honey flows and pours into our ears A language that grew first among the first - this Has eternal youth that never ages

This passionate ode to the Tamil language showcases Bharathiyar's deep love for his mother tongue. Written around 1912-1916, it expresses both linguistic pride and a call to action for spreading Tamil globally. The famous opening line "Yaamarindha mozhihalilae tamizhmozhhi pol inidhaavadhu engum kanom" (Among all languages we know, none is as sweet as Tamil) became an anthem of Tamil linguistic identity. Bharathiyar emphasizes Tamil's unique quality of being accessible to both common people (paamarar) and scholars (pandithar).
