தீராத விளையாட்டுப் பிள்ளை - கண்ணன் தெருவிலே நின்றாடுகின்றான்! ஓராயிரம் பேரைக் கூட்டி - விளை யாடுகின்றான் காணீரோ! வெட்டிப் பிடித்தாடுகின்றான் - சற்று விட்டுப் பிடித்தாடுகின்றான்! கொட்டிப் பிடித்தாடுகின்றான் - இன்பக் கூத்தாடிப் பாடுகின்றான்! கல்லைக் கவணிவிட்டு எறிவான் - மர கன்றுகளைத் தள்ளிவிட்டு நகைப்பான்! அல்லைக் கலைப்பவன் போல் ஆடி - எங்கும் அலைந்து திரிகின்றான் காணீரோ! சுற்றி வளைத்தாடுகின்றான் - நம்மைச் சூதினிலே வெல்லுகின்றான்! மற்றவர்கள் தோற்றால் நகைப்பான் - கண்ணன் மலர்ந்த முகம் காணீரோ!

Theeraadha vilaiyaattup pillai - Kannan Theruvile nindraadugindran! Oraayiram peraik kootti - vilai Yaadugindran kaaneeroo! Vettip pidiththaadugindran - satru Vittup pidiththaadugindran! Kottip pidiththaadugindran - inbak Kooththaadip paadugindran! Kallaik kavanivettu eriwan - mara Kandrugalaith thallivettu nagaippaan! Allaik kalaippavan pol aadi - engum Alaindhu thirigindran kaaneeroo! Sutri valaiththaadugindran - nammais Soodhinile vellugindran! Matrravargal thottral nagaippaan - Kannan Malarndha mugam kaaneeroo!
English Translation
The playful child who never tires - Krishna Stands and plays in the street! Gathering a thousand people - he Plays, don't you see! He plays catch with grabbing - then Plays letting go and catching again! He plays tapping and catching - he Dances and sings with joy! He throws stones with a sling - he Pushes tree calves and laughs! Like one who dispels darkness - everywhere He roams and wanders, don't you see! He plays surrounding us - he Defeats us in clever games! When others lose he laughs - Krishna's Blossomed face, don't you see!
