Listen

Explanation

The ultimate obstacles are ego ("I") and possessiveness ("mine"). One who eliminates these attains a realm higher than heaven - liberation itself.

Story behind this kural

In a village nestled beside a whispering forest lived two brothers, Arun and Bala. Arun possessed a vast rice field, the largest in the valley, and constantly boasted, "My harvest will feed the entire village!" He built a grand home, filling it with treasures, forever guarding his possessions. Bala, however, owned only a small plot. He shared his meager yield, helping neighbors and offering shelter to travelers. When a devastating flood swept through the valley, Arun's fields were ruined, his home destroyed. He clung desperately to his salvaged belongings, lamenting his loss. Bala, whose small plot was spared and whose home was simple, readily opened his doors to all. He shared his food, offering comfort. Villagers, though having lost all, found solace in helping each other. They rebuilt, not for themselves, but for the community, their spirits uplifted by their unity and compassion. Arun, watching the scene, finally understood the true meaning of wealth.
