Listen
Explanation
Before undertaking any action, a wise person considers three things: potential losses, potential gains, and the ultimate benefit that will accrue. This systematic analysis prevents hasty decisions and their regrettable consequences.

Story behind this kural
The village of Eldoria was known for its vibrant marketplace. A young merchant named Theron dreamt of opening a stall selling exotic spices. He saw the potential profit and, excited, he immediately borrowed from a moneylender, ordering a large shipment. However, the village elder, Elara, noticed Theron's haste. "Have you considered the risks, young one?" she asked. "What if the spices spoil? What if the market already has enough?" Theron dismissed her concerns. He was too consumed by the prospect of riches. Weeks later, the shipment arrived. But a sudden rainstorm ruined a portion of the spices. Furthermore, a rival merchant had already started selling the same goods at lower prices. Theron was forced to sell his remaining spices at a loss, unable to repay the moneylender. He lost his savings and his reputation. Elara, observing Theron's misfortune, shook her head. She knew a moment's impulse, without foresight, could lead to a lifetime of regret.
