தமராகித் தற்றுறந்தார் சுற்றம்
அமராமைக்கு உற்ற குறிப்பே தலை
Tamarākit taṟṟuṟantār cuṟṟam
Amarāmaikku uṟṟa kuṟippē talai
English translation
To regain kinsmen who became estranged, the first step is to understand what caused the estrangement.

When relatives drift away (தற்றுறந்தார்), do not ignore it. The priority (தலை) is understanding the cause (குறிப்பு) of their dissatisfaction (அமராமை). Diagnosis precedes treatment in relationship repair.

Story behind this kural
