Viṉaipaka eṉṟiraṇṭiṉ eccam
Niṉaiyuṅkāl tīyeccam pōlat teṟum
English translation
The remnants of unfinished tasks and lingering enmity will burn like the remnants of fire.
Listen
Explanation
Incomplete work (வினை எச்சம்) and unresolved enmity (பகை எச்சம்) are like smoldering fire (தீ எச்சம்) - they will reignite and destroy. Finish what you start; resolve conflicts completely.

Story behind this kural
In a village nestled beside a whispering forest, lived two farmers, Arul and Selvan. Arul began building a sturdy stone wall to protect his crops, but when the harvest season arrived, he abandoned the project, leaving the wall half-finished. Selvan, angered by a past dispute with Arul, harbored a deep resentment, never forgiving him for a perceived slight. Years passed. One scorching summer, a wildfire swept through the forest. The wind carried embers, igniting the dry, neglected brush near Arul’s incomplete wall. The fire quickly spread, consuming his fields. Later, the same wind carried those embers towards Selvan's home. The anger he held festered, and soon, a dispute over water rights erupted into a bitter feud. As a result, his home became a target for those seeking revenge. Both men lost everything. The village watched, saddened, as the remnants of the incomplete wall and the unresolved hatred continued to burn.
