பொருள்கருவி காலம் வினையிடனொடு
ஐந்தும் இருள்தீர எண்ணிச் செயல்

Story behind this kural
The old farmer, Arul, dreamt of a well in his arid field. He had the land (place), the desire (task), and a strong back (resource). He began digging, ignoring the scorching sun (timing) and his neighbor's offer of a sturdy winch (means). Days turned into weeks, and Arul’s hole grew deeper, but the soil remained dry. His hands, raw and blistered, could barely lift the dirt. His neighbor, seeing his struggle, gently reminded him of the well-timed rains approaching. "Perhaps," he suggested, "we should wait, and use the winch to make a larger, deeper well." Arul, stubbornly continuing, eventually collapsed from exhaustion. The rains arrived, filling the unlined pit with muddy water. The next day, the flimsy walls crumbled. The field remained barren.
