குடும்பம் ஒரு விளக்கு - அது குன்றாது எரியும் தீபம் அன்பும் பண்பும் சேர்ந்தால் - அந்த ஆலயம் சுவர்க்கம் ஆகும் தாயின் அன்பு பெருகும் - அந்தத் தந்தையின் அருள் கொழிக்கும் சேயின் சிரிப்பு ஒலிக்கும் - நல்ல சிறப்புடன் வாழ்வு மலரும் கற்றல் கற்பித்தல் இல்லத்தில் - நல்ல கருத்துக்கள் பிறக்கும் உள்ளத்தில் பெற்றோர் பிள்ளைகள் சேர்ந்தே - அன்புப் பிணைப்பில் வாழ்வது பேறே

Kudumbam oru vilakku - adhu Kundraadhu eriyum deepam Anbum panbum sērndhaal - andha Aalayam suvargam aagum Thaayin anbu perugum - andha Thandhayin arul kozhikkum Sēyin sirippu olikkum - nalla Sirappudan vaazhvu malarum Katral karppiththal illaththil - nalla Karuththukkal pirakkum ullaththil Petror pillaigal sērndhē - anbup Pinaippil vaazhvadhu pērē
English Translation
Family is a lamp - it Is an ever-burning flame When love and character unite - that Temple becomes heaven Mother's love overflows - that Father's grace pours abundantly Child's laughter echoes - good Life blooms with glory Learning and teaching at home - good Ideas are born in hearts Parents and children together - living In love's bond is a blessing
