அறிவே தெய்வம் என்று கொள் - மூட நம்பிக்கை எல்லாம் விட்டொழி நெறியே வாழ்வின் நேர்வழி - அன்பு நிறைந்த உள்ளமே கோயில் அறிவால் உலகம் வென்றிடு - நல்ல ஆய்வு செய்து முன்னேறு கறிவேப்பிலை போல் மூடம் - கொஞ்சம் கருத்தை மறைத்திடும் பாரு புத்தன் வந்து சொன்னான் - அறிவே புனிதம் என்றே கண்டான் சித்தர்கள் எல்லாம் சொன்னார் - அறிவில் சிறந்தவன் வாழ்வில் வென்றான்

Arivē theivam endru kol - mooda Nambikkai ellaam vittozhi Neriyē vaazhvin nērvazhi - anbu Niraindha ullamē kōyil Arivaal ulagam vendru - nalla Aaivu seidhu munnēru Kariveeppilai pōl moodam - konjam Karuththai maraiththidum paaru Buththan vandhu sonnaan - arivē Punidham endrē kandaan Siththargal ellaam sonnaar - arivil Sirandhavan vaazhvil vendraan

Consider knowledge as God - abandon All blind beliefs Righteousness is life's true path - a heart Full of love is the true temple Conquer the world with knowledge - make Good research and progress Superstition like curry leaves - hides The essence, see clearly Buddha came and said - knowledge Alone is sacred, he found All the siddhas said - one who Excels in knowledge wins in life
Historical Context
Bharathidasan was a strong proponent of rationalism and was deeply influenced by Periyar's atheist and rationalist philosophy. This poem exemplifies his belief that knowledge and reason should replace blind faith and superstition. He advocated for a scientific temper and logical thinking.
