ஆலமரம் நிழல் தரும் - அது அனைவருக்கும் குளிர்ச்சி தரும்! கோலமாய் கிளைகள் விரியும் - வேர்கள் கீழே இறங்கும் பாரு! பறவைகள் கூடு கட்டும் - அதில் பல உயிர்கள் வாழும்! சிறுவர் விளையாடும் நிழலில் - பெரியோர் சேர்ந்து அமர்வார் மகிழ்வில்! ஆலைப் போல் வளரு - நீயும் அனைவருக்கும் உதவு! நீலமாய் நிற்கும் தூணாய் - உன் நேர்மை காட்டு எங்கும்!
Transliteration
Aalamaram nizhal tharum - adhu Anaivarukkum kulirchi tharum! Kōlamaay kilaigal viriyum - vērgal Keezhē irangum paaru! Paravaigal koodu kattum - adhil Pala uyirgal vaazhum! Siruvar vilaiyaadum nizhalil - periyōr Sērndhu amarvar magizhvil! Aalaip pōl valaru - neeyum Anaivarukkum udhavu! Neelamaay nirkum thoonaay - un Nērmai kaattu engum!
English Translation
The banyan tree gives shade - it Gives coolness to everyone! Beautifully the branches spread - see How the roots descend below! Birds build nests in it - many Lives live there! Children play in its shade - elders Sit together happily! Grow like the banyan - you too Help everyone! Standing like a firm pillar - show Your integrity everywhere!
