பச்சைக் கிளி அழகு - அதன் பவள மூக்கு அழகு! மெச்சும் பேச்சு அழகு - கற்றால் மிகவும் பேசும் அழகு! மாமரத்தில் அமரும் - பழம் மகிழ்ந்து தின்னும் பாரு! தாமரை போல் கண்கள் - சிவந்த தாளடி கொண்டது பாரு! கிளியே நீ என் தோழன் - நான் கற்பது உன்னிடமே! தெளிவாய் பேச கற்பேன் - உன் திறமை போல் நானும்!
Transliteration
Pachai kili azhagu - adhan Pavala mookku azhagu! Mechsum pēchu azhagu - katraal Migavum pēsum azhagu! Maamaraththil amarum - pazham Magizhndhu thinnum paaru! Thaamarai pōl kangal - sivandha Thaalladi kondadhu paaru! Kiliyē nee en thōzhan - naan Karpadhu unnidamē! Thelivaay pēsa karpēn - un Thiramai pōl naanum!
English Translation
The green parrot is beautiful - its Coral beak is beautiful! Its admirable speech is beautiful - when taught It speaks so beautifully! It sits on the mango tree - see how It eats fruit happily! Eyes like lotus flowers - see how It has red feet! O parrot, you are my friend - I Learn from you! I will learn to speak clearly - like Your skill, I too will!
