குளத்தில் மலர்ந்தது பாரு - செந் தாமரை மலர் அழகு! நிலத்தில் சேற்றில் பிறந்தும் - தூய்மை நிறைந்து நிற்கும் அழகு! சூரியன் வந்தால் மலரும் - மாலை சூழ்ந்தால் மூடும் இதழ்! பாரில் அழகின் சின்னம் - இது பார்க்க இன்பம் தரும்! தாமரை போல் வாழு - நீ தரணியில் தூய்மையாய்! ஏமாற்றம் இல்லாமல் - நேர்மை ஏந்தி வாழ்வாய் உயர்வாய்!
Transliteration
Kulaththil malarndhadu paaru - sen Thaamarai malar azhagu! Nilaththil sētril pirandhum - thooimai Niraindhu nirkum azhagu! Sooriyan vandhaal malarum - maalai Soozhndaal moodum idhazh! Paaril azhagin sinnam - idhu Paarkka inbam tharum! Thaamarai pōl vaazhu - nee Dharaniyil thooimaiyaay! Ēmaattram illaamal - nērmai Ēndhi vaazhvaay uyarvaay!
English Translation
See it bloom in the pond - the red Lotus flower is beautiful! Though born in mud on the ground - it stands Full of purity, beautiful! When the sun comes, it blooms - when evening Surrounds, its petals close! It is the symbol of beauty in the world - looking At it gives pleasure! Live like the lotus - you In the world with purity! Without deception - holding Honesty, you will live and rise!
