எழுந்தது ஞாயிறு - கிழக்கில் எழிலாய் ஒளிர்ந்தது பாரு! விழுந்தது இருள் எல்லாம் - புவியில் வெளிச்சம் பரவிற்று தேரு! கதிரவன் காலையில் வந்தான் - உலகை கண் திறக்கச் செய்தான் மதுரமாய் மலர்கள் சிரித்தன - பறவை மகிழ்ந்து பாடின இசை! ஒளியின் தந்தையே வாழி - நீயே உலகின் உயிர்நாடி களியாய் உழைக்க ஊக்கம் - தந்து கடமை உணர்த்துவாய் நாளும்!
Transliteration
Ezhundhadu gnaayiru - kizhakkil Ezhilaay olirndhadhu paaru! Vizhundhadu irul ellaam - puviyil Velicham paravirru thēru! Kadhiravan kaalayil vandhaan - ulagai Kann thirakka seydhaan Madhuramaay malargal siritthana - paravai Magizhndhu paadina isai! Oliyin thandhaiyē vaazhi - neeyē Ulagin uyirnaadi Kaliyaay uzhaika ookkam - thandhu Kadamai unarththuvaay naalum!
English Translation
The sun has risen - in the east See how beautifully it shines! All darkness has fallen - on earth Light has spread everywhere! The sun came in the morning - making The world open its eyes Flowers smiled sweetly - birds Sang with joy! Hail to the father of light - you are The lifeline of the world Giving enthusiasm to work joyfully - you Remind us of duty each day!
