Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Rice (preferably Basmati or short-grain)
- 4 cups Full-fat Milk
- 1/2 cup Sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder
- 1 tbsp Ghee
- 10-12 Cashews
- 10-12 Raisins
- Pinch of Saffron strands (optional)

Wash the rice thoroughly and soak for 30 minutes.

In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat ghee and roast cashews and raisins until golden brown. Remove and set aside.

In the same pan, add milk and bring it to a boil.

Add the soaked rice to the boiling milk and reduce the heat to low. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Simmer until the rice is cooked and the milk thickens, about 45-60 minutes.

Add sugar and cardamom powder and continue to simmer for another 5-10 minutes until the sugar dissolves completely.
