Listen
Explanation
Removing the painful disease (எவ்வநோய்) of enmity (இகல்) brings lasting brightness (தாவில் விளக்கம்) that never fails (தவல் இல்லா). Peace of mind that comes from letting go of hatred is enduring.

Story behind this kural
In a small village nestled beside a whispering forest, lived two farmers, Arun and Bala. Their fields bordered each other, and for years, they toiled in peace. But a dispute over a water channel soured their friendship. Envy and resentment bloomed between them, their days filled with suspicion and spite. Arun, consumed by anger, saw Bala's flourishing crops as a personal insult. He neglected his own fields, spending his days plotting petty acts of revenge. His once cheerful face became etched with bitterness. Bala, though initially hurt, found himself increasingly weary of the conflict. He realized the anger was poisoning his own heart, stealing his joy in the simple pleasures of life. One day, he brought Arun a basket of ripe mangoes, a gesture of peace. Arun, surprised, hesitated, then accepted the gift. Slowly, their rivalry dissolved. Arun, freed from his bitterness, found new energy for his farm. His crops thrived, and his smile returned. Both men prospered, their fields now side-by-side, bathed in the warmth of shared friendship.
