If one destroys the sorrow called enmity, which is sorrow among sorrows, it will yield happiness among happiness.
Listen
Explanation
Enmity is துன்பத்துள் துன்பம் (sorrow among sorrows). Destroying it yields இன்பத்துள் இன்பம் (happiness among happiness). The extremity of suffering from hatred, when eliminated, produces extreme joy.

Story behind this kural
In the village of Eldoria, lived two farmers, Silas and Thomas, whose fields bordered each other. For years, a bitter rivalry festered between them. A misplaced fence, a stolen harvest, real or imagined, fueled their anger. They glared at each other, their families mirroring the feud, each finding joy only in the other's misfortune. One harsh winter, a blizzard buried Eldoria under snow. Silas's barn collapsed, trapping his livestock. Thomas, watching from his window, saw his rival's despair. Remembering his own father's words, "Kindness melts the coldest heart," Thomas gathered his family. They worked tirelessly, clearing the snow and rescuing Silas's animals. Silas, witnessing this unexpected act, felt shame wash over him. Tears welled up as he helped. That day, the villagers saw Silas and Thomas sharing a warm meal, the frost of their enmity finally broken. The warmth of their shared kindness spread, melting the winter's chill.
