Story behind this kural
The old village of Seran was struck by a strange cough. Many fell ill, and the wise woman, Kamala, was called upon. She examined each patient. To the farmer, strong and ruddy, she prescribed a bitter herb, saying, "The earth gives you strength; it can heal you too." To the weaver, thin and frail, she offered a sweet, warming broth, advising rest. "Your body is like a delicate thread; it needs gentle care." As the rains began, the cough worsened. Kamala adjusted her remedies. For those exposed to the damp, she added spices. She cautioned against venturing out when the winds blew cold. The village elder, skeptical at first, watched as the treatments worked. He saw the farmer regain his strength, the weaver steadily improve, and the cough gradually subside with the changing weather. He realized that a good remedy is not just about the sickness, but also about the person and the time.
