பொங்கலோ பொங்கல் - இனிய பொங்கல் வாழ்த்துக்கள்! மங்களம் பொங்கட்டும் - உங்கள் மனையில் மகிழ்ச்சி பொங்கட்டும்! தை மாதம் வந்தது - புது தாய்த்திரு நாள் இது! மை போல் கருப்பு பானை - அதில் மாட்டுப் பொங்கல் வைப்போம்! நன்றி சொல்வோம் உழவர்க்கு - அவர் நாட்டின் முதுகெலும்பு! என்றும் வாழ்க தமிழர் - நம் இனிய பண்டிகை இது!
Transliteration
Pongalō pongal - iniya Pongal vaazhththukkal! Mangalam pongattum - ungal Manaiyil magizhchi pongattum! Thai maadham vandhadu - pudhu Thaaiththiru naal idhu! Mai pōl karuppu paanai - adhil Maattu pongal vaippōm! Nandri solvōm uzhavarkku - avar Naattin mudhugelumbu! Endrum vaazhga tamizhrar - nam Iniya pandigai idhu!
English Translation
Pongal, oh Pongal - sweet Pongal greetings! May auspiciousness overflow - may Happiness overflow in your home! Thai month has come - this is A sacred new day! In the black pot like kohl - we Will make Pongal for cattle! Let us thank the farmers - they are The backbone of the nation! May Tamils prosper forever - this is Our sweet festival!
